CASTILLO DE SANTA BÁRBARA (ALICANTE) (R)
Description
Castle of Moslem origin that dominates the city of Alicante. It was conquered by Fernando III in 1248 and incorporated into the Kingdom of Valencia in 1394. Very spoilt in the ” War of Two Pedros “, it was reconstructed at the beginning of the 15th century adapting it to the new technologies of the war artillera. It divides in three enclosures differentiated well from that the first one is the highest and includes the Tower of the Honoring. The intermediate enclosure corresponds to the most important dependences concluded in 1580, and the low one in the one that nowadays places the parking.
