Description
The monastery of Santa María de Serrateix was an old Benedictine abbey of which there are references since 941. From that initial monastery the church is preserved below the current one. In 1077 the construction of the current church began, very modified, of a single nave with a transept and three semicircular apses from which the sides were replaced by two large chapels in late Gothic, while the dome was removed, while the tower and the cloister are of later construction.
