SANTA MARÍA LA REAL DE VALDEIGLESIAS (R)
Description
The origins of the monastery of Santa María la Real de Valdeiglesias date back to the Visigoth period. But it was during the reign of Alfonso VII, in 1150, that this monastery was founded first under the Benedictine order and later Cistercian. The canonical distribution of the parts of the monastery follows the rule of the latter. For some scholars, this is the most important Romanesque work that is built in Madrid in the area of 1200.
