MONASTERIO DE CARRACEDO (R)
Description
The monastery was founded about the year 990 by Bermudo II, king of León and of Galicia, The primitive temple constructed in the 12th century, of which still important vestiges remain, was threenaves of five sections separated by props, major width the head office and with flat cover. In the angle northwest has remained a semicircular tower. His triple head-board absidial was demolished in the XVIIIth to construct a new neoclassic building. Also there remain remains of a cloister of the 16th century and of diverse dependences of the monasterios, of different epochs.
